Hey, I’m Grump!
I’m not so Grump!
Aaand we’re the Game Grumps!
Through out our lives we look up to someone. Usually we start with the people we see the most often, family members or teachers. Now with media we are exposed to many different kinds of people with completely different ideals. My personal idols are The Game Grumps: Arin Hanson and Leigh Dan Avidan.
The first thing you might be asking yourself is: Why on earth would you choose those two people? Here’s some back story to the Grumps. Game Grumps is a “Let’s Play” YouTube channel where you’ll hear anything from Macho Man Randy Savage to singing ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’ with a mouth full of peanut butter. So you know, a different turn from Tobuscus or Markiplier. Danny is the uneducated gamer, who usually will be there just talking while Arin is the one focused on the game (because he is the one that is actually playing). I love their chemistry above all, and how they can totally go from talking about something deep and meaningful, and then the lead singer of Smash Mouth.
That’s what has attracted me to the Grumps, they can easily and quickly flip-flop their personalities. Life is extremely rough and unpredictable, and sometimes you need to learn how to relax. For example, soldiers suffer from PTSD after a war and sometimes they can never take a breath after that. A favorite quote of mine is ‘This shall soon pass’. Out of context this doesn’t sound like much, but if you think about it this phrase can be used about anything. The good time and the bad times, will soon pass because life is a rollercoaster of up and downs. And we learn the lessons from those who are there in our best and worst.
Game Grumps are more than just my idols, they are also my high school experience. I started watching them from the ‘Dan’ era and have loved them for everything they have done. I really hope that Dan or Arin read this and that they know they influence so many people with their laughter and stupidity. Thanks you two lovable idiots.
